Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board Looking for Kayak Launch Project Volunteers

The Marshall County Parks and Recreation Board members are still looking for members of the public to help with a kayak launch project.

Board member Richard Markley said the project is in the five-year plan and there was momentum with it, but the person working on the project had to withdraw.

Markley told the board that he traveled to all of the sites where the board previously discussed creating a launch area. Those sites include the areas of 11th Road, Hickory Road, King Road, Peach Road, 11th Road, 12th Road, 13th Road, and Upas Road. Markley said out of all of the sites, 11th Road, Hickory Road and Upas Road looked good for potential launch sites. He suggested that the other board members go to the locations and see which areas looked the best for a proposed project.

They also talked about presenting access on the pond at Memorial Forest and other ideas.

Brandon Calhoun said he would like to help, but if there are other volunteers who would like to be involved this community project call Board President Greg Hildebrand at 574-952-4433 or Board member Richard Markley at 574-540-1028.
