During the recent Marshall County Commissioners meeting, President Stan Klotz addressed the Solar Decommissioning Agreement during Commissioners Items.
He asked Attorney Jim Clevenger if there was such a thing as a letter of financial responsibility that could replace the decommissioning agreement.
Though the current ordinance contains language including a bond; President Klotz said that there are still things that can be changed. Clevenger did not give a definitive answer regarding a letter of financial responsibility and noted there are probably going to be a lot of negations still involved.
Klotz asked for a timeline on more information regarding the decommissioning agreement. Clevenger responded that information would most likely be available sooner.
He mentioned an upcoming meeting with Plan Director Ty Adley to discuss the issue. Clevenger informed the Commissioners that he has been working with Highway Superintendent Jason Peters for the road use portion of it.
Klotz requested a work session when Clevenger is ready for the purpose of presenting information to the public. Clevenger emphasized a need to protect the county.
Klotz repeated his desire for a work session after Clevenger collects his information. He noted that the Council will be involved on the financial side and said he wants the Council’s attorney to provide some input as well. He also mentioned the unsafe building and unsafe property committee and wants that attorney present at the work session as well.
Klotz wants to have the meeting around April 1.
Clevenger noted that some of the issues they are facing might require expertise beyond the individuals mentioned by Klotz.
