Argos Town Council Discusses Cemetery Mowing Bids

Argos Town Attorney Derek Jones discussed cemetery mowing bids for Maple Grove Cemetery with the Argos Town Council during their recent meeting.

Jones reminded the council that it was a 2-year contract.

There were two bids that were submitted. The first bid was from Two and a Half Men Lawn Care in the amount of $43,200. The second bid was from Premier Turf Solutions in the amount of $44,500. Both bids met the deadline. However, Two and a Half Lawn Care did not submit a certificate of liability insurance.

When asked about that, Jones said that a certificate of liability insurance was a requirement, but it’s not required to be submitted with the bid. Once they sign the contract, then it is required that they provide proof of that liability insurance.

While explaining this to the council members, Jones noticed that in the bid, it requires two independent references. Premier Turf Solutions provided that, but Two and a Half Men Lawn Care did not.

Council Vice President Shawn Harley asked if it would be possible for the one bidder to provide the missing references. Jones said not at this time.

The bids were taken under advisement and will be awarded during tonight’s meeting.

They also discussed an ordinance amending the height of headstones for Maple Grove Cemetery. During the last meeting the council discussed a height of 48 inches. Jones said he extended the height to 54 inches. The council can change it back to 48 inches if they desire.

The council approved the ordinance with the 54 inch height.
