The Marshall County Council approved Ordinance 2024-11(1) Amending Job Description Ordinance 2023-28B and Ordinance 2024-10(1) Amending Salary Ordinance 2023-25 to create a new part-time custodial position and establish funding for that salary. The Wage and Personnel subcommittee met with Grounds and Maintenance to discuss some absences. Custodians clean five buildings which is too much work for one individual.

Councilwoman Nicole Cox confirmed that it is the recommendation of that committee to approve the amendment.

Ordinance 2024-4(2) Establish New Fund 8114 was also approved to accommodate the grant awarded from the Secretary of State Diego Morales’ Office for Election Security to Marshall County Clerk Jenny Bennitt in the amount of $21,777 to be used for election security equipment. As previously reported, the money is being distributed to be used for local election improvement and security efforts. Encoders that are compatible with the voting machines, folding portable partitions, high speed printers and poll pad transport trolleys will be purchased using the funds.
