The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission members recently approved a bid for the Commerce Street paving project.

City Attorney Jeff Houin told the commission that bids were received the previous week during the Board of Public Works meeting.

A bid from Rieth-Riley Construction Co. was suggested for approval. The company’s bid was $105,000 under the estimate. It was described as a responsive and responsible bid. The total bid was $1,120,386.61.

This recommendation of the Rieth-Riley bid was approved by the commission.

Street Department Superintendent Jim Marquardt previously explained that the project reconstructs the area of Commerce Street from Pioneer north to the Pretzels, Inc. property, along with the Gary Drive area, the Love’s Truck stop area, and to the INDOT right-of-way on U.S. 30.

In other news, a question was asked about a property in TIF 5. There has been no activity at this property, and they had not made their property tax payment for the fall. They still have time to get caught up with this and pay the penalties this spring. This TIF is set up as a pass through for the bonds. The only thing that the commission would be responsible for if the taxes were not paid is the administrative fees due to Baker Tilly.
