Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Sets Meeting Dates and Times, Hears Requests

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members voted to keep the same meeting dates and times when they met for the first meeting of the year last week.

The board will continue to meet on the second and fourth Mondays of the month at 6 p.m. ET. They noted in observance of Memorial Day and Veterans Day, the meetings will be held the following dates, May 28 and November 12, at the same time. Meetings will be held in the second floor Council Chambers room in the Plymouth City Building at 124 N. Michigan Street.

In other business, Assistant Police Chief Matthew Emenhiser asked the board to seek quotes for three new vehicles to be purchased with funds already figured in the department’s 2024 budget. That request was approved with a unanimous vote.

Additionally, Street Department Superintendent Jim Marquardt asked to seek quotes for several items to be purchased with funds in the department’s 2024 budget. He noted that it could take quite a while to get quotes for some pieces of equipment. He said he will getting quotes on a three-quarter ton pick-up, a large dump truck, a bed replacement on a dump truck, among other items. He said the market for a large dump truck may not allow for a quote this year. If that is the case, he will look at other avenues in order to procure the items requested. The board approved Marquardt’s request with a unanimous vote.
