Bremen Town Council Sworn into Office, Reorganizes

The Bremen Town Council members were sworn into office by Marshall County Superior Court No. I Judge Robert O. Bowen Tuesday afternoon.

Bowen commented prior to the administration of the oaths of office that it has been his privilege to swear in the Bremen Town Council for many terms of office. This will be his last time administering the oath for Bremen as his last day as judge will be December 31 of this year.

After Michael Leman, Bill Daily, Bryan Miller and Alex Mikel were sworn into office, Brad Thornton from the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office opened the reorganization meeting so a new president could be nominated and approved. A nomination was made to appoint Michael Leman as the council president and there were no other nominations. Leman was then voted in as president of the council. A nomination to appoint Bill Daily as vice president was made with no other nominations. Daily was then voted in as vice president of the council.

Additionally, the council made liaison appointments where Council President Michael Leman will be the liaison for the Police Department, Fire Department, legal counsel and director of operations. Council Vice President Bill Daily will be the liaison for the Street Department, Wastewater Department, and Clerk’s Office. Councilman Bryan Miller will be the liaison for the Park Department and the Electric Department, and Councilman Alex Mikel will be the liaison for the Water Department and the Cemetery.
