Demolition of Bremen Town Swimming Pool Nearly Complete

Bremen Aquatic Center project

The demolition of the swimming pool in Bremen is nearly complete.

Park Superintendent Brian Main told the Bremen Town Council members this week that the whole process has been an interesting one and that the holes will be filled in in the next couple of days. The pool had been a fixture in Bremen since 1964.

Some of the old stands were given to the Plymouth Parks Department, but many of the old equipment was put in to the trash.

The demolition is making way for a new aquatic facility. This project is a Stellar project through the Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Initiative. The project includes a straight-line lap pool that will have a zero-depth entry to a now four foot depth. Where the big pool was will be a splash pad with buckets and slides for the kids. The concrete pad will be redone with shade elements and a green turf area for other activities or sports.

Brown and Brown Construction was awarded the bid for the project. The total base bid submitted by Brown and Brown out of Wakarusa was $2,812,000. The first alternate was for $21,900 and second alternate was for $23,300. According to Mike Reese from the Troyer Group, the first alternate price would cover the installation of Life Floor tiles at the zero-depth entry.  The second alternate covers lighting and fixtures to be added to the perimeter of the pool deck.
