Marshall County Sheriff Requests Purchase of Vehicles

Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel presented a request to the Marshall County Commissioners last week to purchase new police vehicles for the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department.

He presented a quote from Oliver Ford in Plymouth for 2023 Ford Utility Interceptor was $42,199 for each vehicle and for the 2023 Dodge Durango from Auto Park Chrysler was $42,404 for each vehicle.

Even though the quote from Oliver Ford was less, Sheriff Hassel commented that the Dodge Durango vehicles sitting on the lot and ready to go.  The Ford vehicles will not be built until 2024 and there is no guarantee with the delivery with the strike.  Sheriff Hassel recommended the commissioners approve the higher price due to that explanation.  Four new vehicles will be purchased.

The commissioners unanimously approved the recommendation.

The vehicles that will be replaced will be sold at a public auction.

Additionally, Sheriff Hassel requested permission to apply for the reimbursable CHIRP grant in the amount of $55,000. He noted that the CHIRP grant is the former Operation Pullover/DUI Taskforce Grant.  The commissioners approved the request with a unanimous vote.
