The Plymouth City Council members will be looking at the city’s golf cart ordinance after complaints have been expressed.
Councilman Don Ecker commented that Councilman Randy Longanecker reached out to him and Councilman Duane Culp about residents operating golf carts on city sidewalks.
Ecker asked that the council look into the ordinance to determine what it states about where golf carts can be operated and that it specifies that golf carts cannot be operated on city sidewalks.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi noted that Clerk-Treasurer Lynn Gorski shared information that Bremen is instituting a registration fee for golf carts and suggested that the council look into a similar measure. Surrisi said he would research that and other provisions implemented by other communities in the area that could be incorporated into Plymouth’s current ordinance so the council could make some considerations during the winter to be sure that something is in place by the warm weather season next year.
Councilman Greg Compton commented that there is a county ordinance that regulates where a golf cart can be operated on county roads.
