One person was injured in a chain reaction crash that occurred at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Oak Drive in Plymouth Tuesday, October 17.

Plymouth Police Department officers, Plymouth Fire/EMS and the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department all responded to the scene just before 9:30 a.m. ET.  According to the Plymouth Police Department, a 2018 Freightliner driven by 37-year-old Dijon Fitch of Indianapolis was traveling west on U.S. 30 when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2016 Kenworth operated by 35-year-old Jason Bergner of Knox, which caused the Kenworth to hit the rear of a 2001 GMC Sonoma driven by 39-year-old Justin Blankenship of Kendallville, which ran into the rear of a 2005 International driven by 34-year-old Caleb Love of Bryan, Ohio.

The brakes failed on Fitch’s Freightliner which caused the initial impact, according to the report.  All of the other vehicles were stopped at a red light at the time of the crash.

Bergner was injured and transported by Plymouth EMS for treatment.
