The Marshall County Commissioners approved Marshall County Sheriff Matthew Hassel’s request to enter an agreement with ViaPath Technologies to provide inmate telephone services, video visitation, and IP-Enabled Tablets.
Services also include an approved law library which meets a state requirement to provide that resource to inmates. By updating the agreement now, ViaPath Technologies has also agreed to update the equipment. A percentage of the profits from these services go to the Sheriff’s Commissary Fund roughly estimated at $80,000 a year.
County Attorney Jim Clevenger noted in his attorney report that this contract will replace the prior contracts that have a third party provide telephone services to jail inmates. Those include the video visitation. The charges are keeping with guidelines that have been tested in Federal Court for fair rates. This agreement is effective through December 31, 2026 and will not be renewed automatically. The agreement may be extended for a one year term upon written agreement at least 90 days prior to the end of the original term.
