Argos Community School Board Holds Pre-Bargaining Public Hearing, Agrees to Advertise Budget

The Argos Community School Board members opened a public hearing last week to discuss negotiations with the Argos Classroom Teachers Association for the 2023-2024 school year. 

Superintendent Ned Speicher said negotiations are beginning and there were no public comments during the hearing.  A public hearing is set for Monday, October 9 to take comments on the tentative agreement between the school corporation and the Argos Classroom Teachers Association.

The board also agreed to advertise the proposed 2024 budget, Capital Projects Plan and Bus Replacement Plan.

According to the Notice to Taxpayers listing on the Indiana Gateway website, the Debt Service Fund is about $1.2 million, the Education Fund is about $5.3 million, and the Operations Fund is about $2.2 million.

The total budget is about $8.8 million. 

The Bus Replacement Plan shows two new buses in 2024, and one new bus in each year from 2025 to 2028.

The Argos Community School Board plans to hold a public hearing on the budget Monday, October 2 at 7 p.m. ET at the corporation at 600 Yearick Street in Argos.  The board is expected to adopt the budget during their regular session meeting Monday, October 23.
