The Marshall County Commissioners approved the appointment of a Marshall County Community Corrections interim director.

Former Director Ward Byers left the position in July.  He is currently the director of security at the Plymouth Community School Corporation.

Marshall County Superior Court No. 2 Judge Dean Colvin, who is also the president of the Marshall County Community Corrections Advisory Board, approached the commissioners Monday morning with a request to name an interim director.

“A search team has been deployed out of the board to review applicants for that position and we’re in the process of doing that,” stated Judge Colvin.  “In the interim, we need someone to take the reins of the Community Corrections program and we have a very capable individual who’s been with Community Corrections for a long period of time as our assistant director, Jill McKinney.”

Judge Colvin presented an agreement to the commissioners that would name McKinney as the interim director and to adjust her pay to the 90 percent of the director’s salary.  She will be compensated that amount until a director is appointed.  The pay would be retroactive to July 20.

The appointment was approved with a unanimous vote.
