Marshall County Clerk Jenny Bennitt presented a few requests to the Marshall County Commissioners last week.
She asked for pay increases for poll workers beginning in 2024. There were increases ranging from $10 to $60 depending on the poll worker position. Bennitt noted that poll workers have not gotten an increase since 2017. In comparison to some other counties, pay for Marshall County poll workers showed cause for an increase.
Since the commissioners control the Marshall County Election Board budget, the commissioners approved the increases as presented.
Bennitt also asked to purchase 24 new poll pads. The current iPads are past the opportunity to update anymore and Bennitt noted that is recommended to have up-to-date equipment when it comes to the election, especially with the Presidential cycle in 2024. The commissioners unanimously approved the purchase at a cost of $11,280.
She also requested that the commissioners include the Primary Election day and General Election day as part of the county holiday schedule to increase security in the Clerk’s Office. The commissioners agreed to take the request under advisement and to consider it further when deciding the holiday schedule for 2024.
