Culver Community School Board Approves New Assistant Principal at Elementary School

The Culver Community School Board made more preparations for the upcoming school year by approving new hires to the corporation.

Among those hired was Brian Carver who will serve as the new assistant principal at the Culver Elementary School.  He joins Principal Erica James in administration duties at the school.  Other teachers, classroom aides, and substitute teachers were also approved.  Superintendent Karen Shuman commented that staff will be in place at the start of the school year. 

School corporation officials have also received several applications for a School Resource Officer which will be brought before school board officials in a future meeting.

An open house is scheduled Monday, August 7 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET for students and parents to tour the improvements made to the three schools over the summer, and to get acclimated to the new school year.  Among the improvements include auditorium, gym and locker room updates, the construction of a new Family and Consumer Sciences Classroom, new band and choir rooms, new electrical panels, and water and other infrastructure updates. 

A new drop-off and pick-up area for buses will be along the west side of the Middle/High School.

The first day of school for students is Wednesday, August 9.
