Several residents have complained about road conditions this spring to the Marshall County Commissioners.
There are several roads that have been reclaimed, or ground, this spring and Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters previously explained that it takes some time for some elements to settle before work is done to put on a hard surface. In most instances, the road will be chip sealed. In all, 47.75 miles of roads have been reclaimed this year with a hard surface yet to be applied. Peters said that it is the goal to have a hard surface on all reclaimed roads by the end of July, which is dependent on the weather. Paving will start after that schedule.
Crews started chip sealing May 31.
Peters reported to the Marshall County Commissioners this week that dust control has been completed and with the added miles of reclaimed roads this year, the cost of calcium is more than $300,000 of what was budgeted for the year.
