Culver Town Council Approves Smoke Free Ordinance Amendment

The Culver Town Council members considered an amendment to an ordinance designating the Culver Town Park as a smoke free environment. 

The amendments include that smoking is not allowed in any area of the park.  The smoking of any tobacco products including cigarettes, cigars, pipes, smokeless tobacco, and the use of e-cigarettes is prohibited on any park grounds including any building located on park property. 

This ordinance will be enforced and the fine for violating the ordinance is $100.

The council unanimously suspended the rules and approved all three readings of the ordinance as it was presented.

In other park business reported during Tuesday night’s meeting, the council approved the purchase of a sump pump for the elevator pit in the Culver Beach Lodge in the amount of $16,511. 

The council also approved a quote of $5,860 from Creative Custom Finishes to restore the lighthouse at the park. The contractor and her parents built the original lighthouse. 

Additionally, the Beach Lodge will be closed Monday, June 19 for a Staff Appreciation Day.
