Marshall County Commissioners Award Bids for Community Crossings Matching Grant, Additional Paving Projects

The Marshall County Commissioners awarded bids for the Community Crossings Matching Grant and additional paving projects.

The lowest Community Crossings bid was submitted by Rieth-Riley Construction in the amount of $1,478,936 and the commissioners approved a contract with the company for the projects which include 10B from State Road 17 to County Line Road, Plymouth-Goshen Trail from City Limits to U.S. 30, and Queen Road from U.S. 30 to 6th Road.

The lowest additional paving bid came from Milestone Contractors North in the amount of $2,635,097.03.  The commissioners approved the contract with the company with the understanding that funding for all projects will need to be discussed with the Marshall County Council.  Highway Department Superintendent Jason Peters said the 9th Road project may be pulled from consideration this year due to the $1.3 million price on that road alone.

The additional paving projects include 13th from Peach to Olive Trail, 9th from Pioneer to Union, King Road from 12B to south of 11th Road, and Muckshaw from 14th to State Road 10.

Peters noted that many millings that the companies take off the county roads come back to the county to be processed for more road projects in the county.
