Culver Park Superintendent Amber Cowell presented the Culver Town Council members with an update on the playground and gathering space project last week.
She presented a change order from Thomas Excavating in the amount of $7,319 for additional concrete by the east pavilion, demolition, and downspout connections.
She noted that there will be a few more items to check off the list before the project is fully complete.
Cowell reminded the council members that the ribbon cutting for the social gathering space and playground project at the Culver Town Park is Thursday, June 8 at 6 p.m. ET at the Culver Train Depot at 615 E. Lakeshore Drive.
These projects were a result of the 2019 Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar grant through the Office of Community and Rural Affairs. OCRA Executive Director Denny Spinner is expected to be a part of the day’s festivities along with other dignitaries and stakeholders in the process.
The project included parking lot improvements, a plaza with added seating and improved accessibility with sidewalks, added lawn space, Farmer’s Market space, playground redevelopment, the installation of a swinging covered bench, a performance stage, and cornhole boards.
Additionally, Cowell noted that the Culver sign was repainted and the lighthouse surface will be addressed soon.
The beach season began Friday, May 26 and the hours will be noon to 6 p.m. ET through June 11. At that time, hours will expand to 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. ET.
