The Culver Town Council members approved funding for the town’s sidewalk program.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim said several applications were received for the program where $12,000 was budgeted for the program. The first four applications submitted to the Clerk’s Office fit the budget with the exception of $185. The council approved the proposed projects and the extra funding needed to complete the projects.
The program reimburses the homeowner a set per square foot amount for sidewalks and per lineal foot for curb and curb/sidewalk combination (when the sidewalk and curb are next to each other). It is the homeowner’s responsibility to obtain a contractor, provide the town specifications, and pay for services.
Residents must complete the project in the year in which funds are approved as funds will
not roll over to the following year. Not completing the project will disqualify residents from applying in a future round.
The Culver Town Council members took action this year to approve an increase in reimbursement rates. The reimbursement rates were increased from $2.75 to $4.00 per square foot for a sidewalk, a curb from $14.00 to $21.00 per lineal foot, and a sidewalk/curb combination from $26.00 to $39.00 per lineal foot.
