Several Indiana Schools Receive Threatening Email, Eastern Pulaski School Corporation Affected

The Eastern Pulaski School Corporation was one of 35 to 40 Indiana school districts who reportedly received an email message of an alleged bomb threat late Thursday evening.

According to the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation, Superintendent Dara Chezem worked with the Winamac Police Department and the SRO at the Eastern Pulaski School Corporation to conduct a sweep of the corporation prior to the start of school Friday, April 14.  Officials say there were no suspicious threats found and local law enforcement and school administration believed it was safe to move on with the school day.

Superintendent Chezem told WKVI News that the school corporation has emergency guidelines in place and they were followed.  She noted that the safety and security of the staff and students are a high priority.

Indiana State Police Superintendent Doug Carter stated in press release that troopers throughout the state have been in communication with local schools to offer assistance and resources.  At this time, no suspicious or explosive devices have been found at any of the affected schools. The investigation into the origin of this threat is ongoing.
