Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety Approves DAR Request

The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members considered a request from the Tippecanoe-Wythougan Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution to hang banners honoring local veterans.

The request was to hang up the banners on the street poles in May, June, October and November.

Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt said there are Work Zone Awareness banners up currently, but he suggested leaving the veterans banners up all summer. There will be an occasion where art banners may be displayed, but Marquardt commented that they look nice and there were many compliments on the displays last year.

The city’s original banners need to be replaced as they display outdated information.  Board member Jeff Houin said it may be appropriate just to leave the veteran banners up all of the time.  There are 26 available places for the banners.

The board members unanimously approved the request and the banners will be displayed all of the time.
