The Bikes for Kids, Inc. organization will be providing over 500 bicycles to qualified children Saturday, April 8 starting at 10 a.m. ET at the Plymouth High School.

This is the fourth annual bike giveaway held by the non-profit group whose mission is to “help kids ride into a happier, healthier childhood by providing bikes to those most in need”.  The volunteers collect and refurbish bicycles and take donations of new bicycles for kids.

Bikes and helmets will be given to qualified second graders in the Plymouth Community School Corporation and Culver Community School Corporation for an hour beginning at 10 a.m. ET. All qualified second graders will receive a new 20” bicycle and helmet.  Pre-registered siblings of the second graders will also be given a refurbished and like-new bicycle and new helmet. All children must be pre-registered through both Plymouth and Culver Community School Corporations to receive a bicycle and a helmet.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET this Saturday, the organization will offer new and refurbished bikes and new helmets to children of families participating in SNAP, TANF, and Free and Reduced Meals Programs attending Plymouth, John Glenn, Triton, Bremen, Argos, Union-North United, Oregon-Davis and area Christian Schools. Proof of eligibility is required to receive a free bike and helmet.  Children must be present to receive a bicycle.  Certain requirements need to be met. Visit http://www.bikesforkids.net/ for more information.

Volunteers with Bikes for Kids, Inc. are always looking for donations of old bicycles to refurbish to distribute to children in need, or donations of new bicycles.  They are also looking for volunteers to assist with the program.  For more information on how to make at tax deductible contribution, call 574-221-5688.
