Plymouth Man Arrested on Suspicion of Drunk Driving

Tyler Speirs

A Plymouth man was arrested Sunday, March 26 after Marshall County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to investigate a single-vehicle accident in the area of Olive Trail and Dixon Lake Trail.

Police say a caller who alerted the Dispatch Center of the accident just after 3:30 a.m. ET said there was no one with the vehicle.  At the scene, deputies found a gray 2009 Dodge Ram had left the roadway, struck county signs, a large boulder, and a small deck and siding of a residence, according to the report.

While at the scene, an officer was told by a neighbor that someone was walking southbound on Olive Trail.  Police say the driver was found south of the accident scene with the help of the Plymouth Police Department.

The driver, 24-year-old Tyler Speirs, reportedly showed signs of impairment. He allegedly admitted to driving and consented to a certified test.  The test reportedly showed that he was over two times the legal limit.

Speirs was arrested and booked into the Marshall County Jail on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated endangerment, operating a vehicle with a BAC of .15 or more, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.

Suspects are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
