Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters discussed the 2023 Road Program with the commissioners last week.
“That was estimated at $3.8 million and we had budgeted $1.5 million. That does not include Community Crossings or the additional paving miles that was suggested,” stated Peters.
The preliminary plan has about 47.5 miles of chip and seal projects, about 37.25 miles of double seals for reclaimed roads, and about 15.75 miles of paving. That program list is still under review by the commissioners.
Commissioner Kevin Overmyer recalled during the meeting that they had agreed to appropriate $1 million in American Rescue Plan Act funds toward the road program in 2023. Overmyer made a motion to ask the Marshall County Council to re-appropriate that funding that was approved in the American Rescue Plan Act plan in 2022 with Commission President Stan Klotz seconding the motion. The motion passed with a unanimous vote of members present. Commissioner Michael Burroughs was not in attendance.
