The Culver Town Council members discussed the town’s sidewalk program when they met last week.
Clerk-Treasurer Karen Heim said the rates of reimbursement in the program have not changed in at least 12 years. After Utility Superintendent Bob Porter spoke with a concrete contractor, Heim explained that it was suggested to increase the reimbursement rates from $2.75 to $4.00 per square foot for a sidewalk, a curb from $14.00 to $21.00 per lineal foot, and a sidewalk/curb combination from $26.00 to $39.00 per lineal foot.
Increase in labor and concrete are factors in the increase request.
Additionally, Heim asked the council to consider adding language to the sidewalk program that if the project cannot be completed in the year the application is submitted and funds are awarded, the application should wait until the resident’s payment can be made in the year of the application. Funds will not roll over to the following year.
The council members took the information under consideration.
Applications will open April 1 and more information will be provided.
