Bremen Town Council Approves Community Crossings Bid

The Bremen Town Council members took action Monday afternoon to approve a bid for Community Crossings Matching Grant projects.

Four bids were opened during the council’s March 13 meeting.  Rieth-Riley Construction Co. submitted a total base bid of $834,091; Milestone Contractors North in South Bend submitted a bid of $869,300; E&B Paving in Rochester bid $764,647.75; and Niblock Excavating in Bristol bid $972,756.50.

The bids were under the engineer’s estimate.

The town was awarded $582,991 in Community Crossings Matching Grant funds for these projects.  The town’s match will be about $193,000.

JPR officials recommended that the council approve the lowest bid from E&B Paving which they did with a unanimous vote of the members present.

Several sections of streets will be repaved as part of this project, including portions of N. Birkey Street, Bowen Avenue, Baltimore Street, Marshall Street, Elm Street, Mill Street, Washington Street, Maple Street, and Collier Street.
