Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel approached the Marshall County Commissioners last week to request the purchase of new vehicles.
He commented that he requested quotes from Auto Park and Oliver Ford for 2023 purchases. He said he received quotes from Oliver Ford, but not from Auto Park.
He asked that the quotes from Oliver Ford be accepted. The quotes include the purchase of four vehicles and the trade-in of four vehicles. The net cost is $161,828 after trade-in. The vehicles to be traded in include a 2011 Dodge Ram for $1,000, two 2016 Ford Explorers at a $2,500 value, and a 2015 Ford Explorer at a value of $2,000.
The commissioners unanimously approved the request.
Sheriff Hassel added that it may take a while to get the vehicles in once they are ordered.
“I know there’s great issues with all of the sheriffs and police departments getting cars ordered and built,” said Sheriff Hassel. “We ordered one in August to replace the one that was totaled and it’s still not in.”
He said the vehicles in this purchase are anticipated to built next month.
