In other news, Chief Martin requested that the Council waive probationary pay for new hires. President Ward Byers asked if the request was temporary or permanent, Chief Martin answered permanent. The hope is that waiving the probationary period of lower pay will help Bourbon remain competitive in the hiring process. The request was approved.

Chief Martin and Town of Bourbon Attorney Alex Hoover are also collaborating on changes to the application regarding reimbursements to the Town of Bourbon should an officer complete Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) Training and then leave the BPD. A pro-rated schedule of reimbursements according to how many years an officer serves on the force and what potential expenses are reimbursable is being finalized by Hoover; who recommended that the Council review those once completed before they make a decision.

The Council will review those potential changes at the January meeting scheduled for Tuesday, January 10 at 6 p.m. in the Bourbon Town Hall located at 104 E. Park Avenue, Bourbon.
