The Argos Town Council members made appointments and set meeting dates during their most recent meeting.
The Argos Town Council will meet every first and third Wednesday of the month starting at 7 p.m. ET. Additionally, there will be a workshop scheduled prior to those meetings at 6 p.m. However, if there is no business to discuss, a workshop will not be held.
The council unanimously approved a motion to appoint Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney as utility clerk. The council made a similar unanimous vote to appoint Mark VanDerWeele as Development Director.
The council appointed department liaisons. Councilman Shawn Harley will be the liaison to the Police Department, Councilman Ed Barcus will be liaison to the Parks Department, Harley and Councilman Charles Randy Snead will both be liaisons to the Utility Department, and Councilwoman Erica Partin will be the liaison to the Redevelopment Commission.
There was some discussion about an appointment to the Plan Commission. Mullaney explained that currently George Null is on the commission as a government member. While Null can no longer hold that position as he is no longer a council member, he is interested staying on the commission. Councilman Gary Schue would then be appointed as a member of the plan commission. Mullaney is currently looking into whether or not Null can remain a member of the commission. That appointment was tabled until next meeting.
Barcus informed the council that there was an open position on the town’s Park Board. He recommended that the position be advertised. If you’re interested in joining, contact 574-892-5717 on how you can submit a letter of interest.
