The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission received an update about the solar project at the Plymouth Wastewater Plant earlier last week.
Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson explained that letters were sent to surrounding property owners to notify them about the construction.
He noted 60 percent of the needed materials were recently delivered and are on site. At this point, the posts for the solar panels are being installed, which should take about two weeks.
Davidson met with the underground company that will be installing conduits and that part of the project should begin after the Thanksgiving holiday. He hopes all of the underground work is done before it gets too cold.
The project is expected to be done by the end of the year, but it will not go online until after January 1, 2023 in order to take advantage of certain rebates offered. The city should receive a 30 percent rebate which will come into the town in 2024. The total rebate would be around $350,000.
