Argos Town Council Updated on Railroad Crossing Closure

The Town of Argos has received payment from Norfolk Southern pertaining to the closure of the West Street railroad crossing.

Argos Town Attorney Derek Jones updated the Argos Town Council members this week that $40,000 has been given to the town which will be receipted into the MVH Fund.

The council members previously approved a resolution that would close the railroad crossing at West Street. The closure would increase traffic on the Linden and Kenilworth railroad crossings, but upgrades could be done soon in response to the closure on West Street.

Utility Superintendent Jamie Lindstrom said in a previous meeting that Norfolk Southern would allow the town to pave all the way to the crossings and they would take care of the crossings themselves.
