Argos Community School Board Approves Bid for Project

The Argos Community School Board members met in special session Monday night to formally accept a bid for the upcoming Elementary School addition project.

Superintendent Ned Speicher said that the school board took bids last week for work to be done on a new music room, art room, and small reading group room.

The lowest bid out of five bids opened was recommended to the board which was submitted by Brown and Brown Construction out of Wakarusa. The lowest base bid was $1,133,000.   Speicher said several alternate bids submitted by Brown and Brown were the lowest received which were also approved by the board along with the base bid.

“We did approve a remodeling of our band room, refinishing the floors in our auditorium, and hallway upgrades,” said Speicher.

Speicher specified that the band room cost was $107,500, the auditorium flooring is $68,000 and the hallway upgrade is $45,700. They are the alternate projects.

The projects will be paid for out of bond money.  Speicher stressed that there is no impact on taxes with these projects.
