Plymouth City Council Reviews Ordinance Establishing Fees and Parking Regulations for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

The Plymouth City Council members reviewed an ordinance last week that would establish various fees and parking regulations regarding city-owned electric vehicle charging stations.

The two charging stations are currently located on Water Street and Laporte Street.   They are not quite operational yet as NIPSCO has to connect electric to the ports. The Plymouth Street Department will need to paint white stripes in the spaces. A MACOG representative will need to give it a final inspection before it is fully operational.

Ordinance prohibits parking unless it is an electric vehicle there to charge.  It is free to charge the vehicle for the first two hours and then it will be $2.00 an hour which will be effective through December 31, 2024.

The project was supported by grant funding from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and other donations.

The Plymouth City Council unanimously approved the second and third readings of the ordinance, thus adopting the ordinance as presented.
