The Culver Town Council members opened a public hearing Tuesday night to take comments on the proposed 2023 budget.
The estimated total of the General Fund for the 2023 budget is about $2.5 million, $378,000 for the Park Department, about $54,700 for Motor Vehicle Highway, just over $16,000 for Local Roads and Streets, $89,000 for Cumulative Capital Development, almost $337,000 in American Rescue Plan Act funds, and $58,000 for the Unsafe Building fund.
As compared to the public notice on the Indiana Gateway portal, the budget paperwork given to patrons at the public hearing showed a $190,000 reduction in the Motor Vehicle Highway budget as the council previously agreed to purchase a leaf vac machine out of this year’s budget rather than the 2023 budget.
There were no public comments given concerning the budget.
The council took action to approve the first reading of the budget ordinance. The formal budget adoption will take place during the October 25 meeting.
