At the last September meeting of the Argos Town Council, the Trick or Treat times were up for debate.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney told the council that, historically, they’ve always had Trick or Treating set on Halloween. This year, Halloween is on a Monday.
“Last year we made it 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. but I will tell you, that as somebody that hands out candy, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. I only got the older children,” said Mullaney.
There was talk about moving it to the Saturday before, Oct. 29.
“The only problem we ran into when we did it on different nights, that you have kids from every other town and these people run out of candy and it’s a fiasco,” said Economic Director Mark VanDerWeele.
One audience member pointed out that it wouldn’t be bad to have outside Trick or Treaters since it could bring more business into the town.
Busy schedules conflicting with Saturday night was another reason why the council didn’t want to hold Trick or Treating on the weekend.
The council voted to approve Trick or Treating from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Halloween, Monday, Oct. 31.
