Plymouth City Attorney Sean Surrisi updated the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission on the upcoming Hoham Drive project during their recent meeting.
The overall project includes the widening of Hoham Drive from Michigan Street to a point 260 feet west of Western Avenue. This will allow for a 14-foot, two-way left turn west of Western Avenue and a dedicated eastbound right turn lane at Western Avenue. Curb, gutters and a sidewalk are a part of the project as well.
Surrisi said the project bidding occurred on September 14 where the low bidder was Milestone Contractors North with a bid of $2,546,956.04.
INDOT has committed 80 percent toward the cost of the original estimate and the Plymouth Redevelopment Commission would pay for 20 percent. Surrisi noted that funding for the project was based on the $2,404,087 estimate which means the project is over budget by $212,819. When he discussed the issue with INDOT, the officials there said they would commit the funding for 80 percent of the cost overage for the project. The Plymouth Redevelopment Commission would be responsible for an additional $42,000 in expenses.
The commission members also agreed to ratify a contract amendment with Lochmueller Group. There is $45,000 in unexpended funds that can be reallocated for other needs which was unanimously approved by the board.
