The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety (BPWS) approved the request for a temporary street closure south bound on Michigan St. from September 6 to the 16th made by Center Twp. Trustee Amy Knapp for the purpose of painting the concrete structure below the Michigan St. Viaduct.
Knapp explained that her budget includes $5,000 to improve something in Center Township. Last year furniture was purchased for the park. This year the Board of Directors approved a beautification project.
Anna Kietzman, President of Heartland Artist Gallery, gathered community input for the mural styles with abstract and interactive taking the lead on popular themes.
Street Superintendent James Marquardt reminded the board that U.S. railways are privately owned and operated; the slab was not the property of the City of Plymouth.
In other news, Plymouth Police Chief David Bacon updated the council that two officers turned in resignations. He was approved to extend a conditional offer of employment to a qualified candidate who applied during the last hiring process.
