The cost for boat slips and pier rentals in Culver may be going up for the 2023 season.
Culver Park Superintendent Amber Cowell reminded the Culver Town Council members Tuesday night that the idea was brought up in recent budget workshop discussions, but if it is something the council members want to move forward with, the time to get the proposed increases published is now in order to meet deadlines.
Cowell said she typically gets out renewal information in mid-October so customers can take advantage of an “early bird” discount and she needs updated information in order to do that.
A public hearing would need to be held before any ordinance changes take effect.
Culver Town Council President Bill Githens noted that the last time changes were done was about five years ago.
The council could wait until January to make the change, but the council decided to get the new fees in line prior to 2023.
The new rates would be discussed during a budget work session next week and ratify that decision at the first meeting in September. The reason for the increase is for maintenance costs.
An advertisement will be submitted to The Culver Citizen for the September 7 publication and October 20 for the legal advertisement of the ordinance.
