Marshall County Sheriff Matt Hassel went before the Marshall County Council Monday morning to request a raise in wages for Lake Maxinkuckee patrol officers.
He made the request on behalf of the Lake Maxinkuckee Association Board.
“They would like to increase the hourly rate for part-time workers on the lake patrol from $30 to $38 with the understanding that the entire budget is paid for by the Association and a DNR grant,” stated Sheriff Hassel.
Sheriff Hassel commented that the raise would create a better incentive to work those extra patrol hours.
The council approved the request with a unanimous vote.
He added that the jail population on Monday was at 125. He commented that it is rare to have a low population in the summertime.
