PLYMOUTH — The Plymouth Common Council is reviewing Ordinance No 2022-2198 prior to approval later this year to determine the appropriate redistricting boundaries for election purposes.

The 2020 Census found the population for the city to be 10,214 which is an increase of 181 people since the Census was last taken in 2010.

At that time, the City of Plymouth adopted Ordinance No. 2012-2031 which divided the city into four districts based on the results of that Census. With the population change reported in the most recent Census, the city is required to review the districts to accommodate the increase and comply with State Law along with State and Federal Constitutional provisions.

The proposed ordinance includes a minor change to two of the four districts which are within a legally compellable level of variation.

Summer Intern Daniel Palladino presented the ordinance for initial review. City Attorney Sean Surrisi noted that the public is invited to review the proposed changes and submit feedback. The council has until November for final adoption prior to the 2023 Election.
