The second phase of the Culver Lake Max Trail project is nearing completion.
The second phase of the Lake Max Trail includes a one-mile extension of the trail from the Culver Park to Washington Street, Plymouth Street and South Main Street. The design of the trail underwent several amendments to accommodate residents along the route who had concerns about the size of the trail through their properties, mostly along Plymouth Street.
Town Manager Ginny Bess Munroe told the Culver Town Council members last week that construction crews are working toward the north end of the trail project.
Gariup Construction has been working on the project. Munroe said she has received correspondence about how well the construction crew members have worked with the town and the residents with this project. She asked that she draft a letter to the leadership team of that company to express that gratitude. The council made a motion to allow Munroe to draft that letter with a signature from Town Council President Bill Githens.
Munroe added that the third phase of the Lake Max Trail project is still awaiting the completion of environmental reports before construction gets underway. The third phase of the Lake Max Trail starts at Academy Road and goes north, crossing over Academy Road and follows the old railroad corridor. It will then cross State Road 10 and end at Sycamore Road. It connects the trail from the Culver Town Park.
