The Bourbon Town Council opened a public hearing Monday night concerning a rezoning request at 502 Shaffer Road from a Single Family Residential Zone to a Two Family and Group Home District.
The request comes from the Bourbon United Pentecostal Church and Director of Kids Kingdom Daycare Andrea Hart who would like to move the daycare to 502 Shaffer Road in a residential district in order to have more room for the children. The Bourbon Plan Commission had previously approved the request to recommend the rezoning change to the Bourbon Town Council.
Clerk-Treasurer Kim Berger said there were several residents who spoke for and against the request. In the end, the vote was 2-1 by the council to approve the request. Council members Ward Byers and Les McFarland approved the request and Terry Clemens was against it.
