Director of Marshall County Plan Commission and Board of Zoning Appeals Ty Adley presented the Annual Report for 2021 to the Marshall County Council during the regular March meeting.
In review, Adley considered 2021 a successful year including having set new records in permit numbers and in valuation of permits.
As indicated by his report, 1105 permits were issued in 2021 as compared to 997 in 2020 and the valuation for 2021 was $76,951,679 up from $72,729,400 in 2020.
A chart illustrating a 15 year comparison showed growth in all but year 2018. “On top of having our record year with the number of permits over 997 from last year, you can see that the valuations are up over $4 M from 2020 to 2021. Given the state of everything in the United States at this point in time, you can see that the vast amount of investment that Marshall County residents are pouring in to their community.” Those numbers do not even include the City of Plymouth which would increase those numbers.
Council member Jim Masterson observed that the department was productive and commended the staff. Administrative Assistants Teena Hunsberger and Lori Lowry play a key role in the department’s success. “They make a world of difference – couldn’t do it without them.”
Council member Heath Thornton remarked on the increase of building and location permits. “The value is rising. The assessed value going up by that many million is just good for Marshall County.”
