PLYMOUTH — Plymouth Community School Corporation (PCSC) Board of Directors approved the adoption of the revised Neola Policies and Guidelines as presented on second read.

Superintendent Mitchell Mawhorter informed the board that moving forward President of the Plymouth Education Association Laura Kruyer will be included in discussions on Neola policies from the beginning. “She can get a first hand look at what’s going on and help us decide how to disseminate those to the people who need to see them.”

Kruyer thanked the board for hearing and addressing her concerns about the policies at the previous meeting.

Further discussions and clarifications on Neola Policies and Guidelines will continue regarding changes to Administrative Guidelines (1520) regarding the elimination of Administrator Contracts. Kruyer asked for clarification on the reason for eliminating Administrator Guidelines and what the potential impact would be. “The one area in particular I am concerned with says every administrator must provide a valid certificate or letter of eligibility prior to issuance of a contract. So my ‘I wonder’ is – would this then enable the school corporation to hire somebody within an administrative position with the salary and benefits of an administrator without the licensing of an administrator. That’s what the concern is.”

Superintendent Mawhorter did not have an immediate answer. He confirmed that item 1520 is only a guideline and did have to be approved during the March meeting.

He agreed to have further discussions with Kruyer. “We can postpone that one and we can work on that together and move forward.”

Social Media Guidelines will be communicated to all staff via email once approved. A list of approved social media sites will be published on the website.
