The Argos Town Council approved a bid for cemetery mowing for the season last week. During the previous meeting, two bids were opened. The first was from A & J Lawn Care for $22,000 and the second bid was from 3-D Services for $21,240. After some discussion, the council approved a motion to award the bid to A & J Lawn Care.
In his attorney report, Derek Jones brought up the contract with Republic Services, the trash removal provider for the town.
“I’ve taken a look at the contracts and it was brought to my attention that there’s been some complaints over the last, I’ll say year, but may be a little bit more or a little bit less,” he said. Jones went on to add that the contract doesn’t expire until Dec. 31, 2024.
Jones advised the council that it might be appropriate to send a letter to Republic Services voicing those issues. “We would call them breaches of the contact, they’re not doing what they’ve contracted to do and that we expect them to do that.”
Mullaney told the council that she has had a meeting with Republic Services a month or so prior to the meeting. During that meeting, Mullaney explained to them the issues. “They assured me that the problems would get better. They’ve only gotten worse in the past month and a half.”
The council approved Jones sending a letter to Republic Services.
