South Bend Man Arrested after Reportedly Fleeing from Plymouth Police Officer

A South Bend man was arrested Saturday evening after fleeing a traffic stop in the parking lot of Burger King in Plymouth.

A Plymouth Police Department officer attempted a traffic stop and found that the registered owner, 27-year-old Brittney Dieter of Bristol, Indiana, had an active arrest warrant in Michigan.  The driver, 38-year-old James Turner, reportedly failed to stop and fled in the vehicle.

The pursuit headed north on U.S. 31 where a tire deflation device was deployed by the Indiana State Police near Kern Road, according to the report.  The vehicle was then immobilized.

Turner was arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement in a vehicle, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, unlawful possession of a syringe, possession of cocaine or narcotic drug, possession of marijuana, possession of a legend drug, and an active warrant in St. Joseph County.

Police were informed of Dieter’s location in Plymouth and she was arrested on the active arrest warrant and a preliminary charge of unlawful possession of a syringe.

Both Turner and Dieter were housed in the Marshall County Jail.

Suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
