During Monday’s meeting of the Marshall County Commissioners, Sandy Garrison was appointed by the commissioners to serve as executive director of the Marshall County Historical Society, Museum and Crossroads Center.
“I do want to say thank you very much. I’m looking sincerely forward to working with all of you. I think you and Linda (Rippy) and Historical Society have created this amazing legacy,” said Garrison.
She then went into the museum’s quarterly report. Garrison informed the commissioners that in 2021, museum volunteers logged in 3,317 hours.
“They did everything from assisting with exhibits and giving tours to helping with research and cataloging,” Garrison said.
Another highlighted item in the report is the front window of the museum, located on Michigan Street in downtown Plymouth. It currently has an exhibit around the 150th anniversary of the County Courthouse.
“We have a life size replica of the clockface, some original blueprints from 1914 when some changes and new furniture were added and some other artifacts that cover various history points in the timeline of the courthouse,” said Garrison.
Several of the museum’s staff were featured speakers at different events including the Women’s Connection Meeting, Washington Discovery Academy, and the Plymouth Kiwanis Club. The museum has also hosted several events including Leadership Marshall County, Youth Leadership Marshall County, and the Indiana Historical Society County Historians Roundtable.
To conclude the quarterly report, Garrison said that the museum received more than 7,000 visitors.
