The Marshall County Election Board met Tuesday in continued preparation for the 2022 Election year.
Board Secretary, Marshall County Circuit Court Clerk Deborah VanDeMark updated the board that Ralph Booker and Fernando Gomez have agreed to serve as Machine Technicians.

She is seeking more volunteers to assist with lifting and transfer. Vice President Ralph “Rick” Huff suggested reaching out to Plymouth Community School Corporation Social Studies Teacher Laura Kruyer to connect with student volunteers.

The board approved and certified the inventory of voting machines and poll pads for annual Certification of Voting Systems.

An inquiry by Jesse Bohannon confirmed that registered voters at Sand Hill Farm Apartments and The Paddocks should be able to vote for Town Council members due to the annexation of both properties in to the Town of Culver. That annex was not reflected in the most recent precinct update. There will be a split-ballot for Culver; Union – 2 in-town and Union 2 – out of town.

VanDeMark updated the board that she mailed out letters to existing vote centers to confirm availability and willingness for the 2022 election year.

She got two confirmations from Bremen. The Town of Bremen agreed to utilizing The Pines which has been scheduled for early Saturday voting, the Primary Election and the General Election. Bremen Public School Corporation Superintendent Jim White also confirmed that the Bremen High School can be used again for elections this year.
She recommended that the board explore the possibility of using the Marshall County Community Center in Argos instead of the church used in years prior. She made a phone call but hasn’t heard back yet.

President Sean Surrisi planned to connect with Executive Director of the Marshall County Council on Aging Janis Holiday about using the Life Enrichment Center as one of the vote centers.

A final list of vote centers will be made available after the board approves the final list for vote center plans to send to the Secretary of State.

The board will meet again on February 15 at 8:30 a.m. at the Marshall County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office located at 211 W. Madison St., Plymouth.
